How can businesses and professionals get involved?
Are you looking to inspire and prepare the next generation for the fast-changing world of work?
We are looking for employers and people working in a range of sectors to become volunteers - known as 'Enterprise Advisers' - to support careers leaders to enhance their careers education programme.
We will match you to a school or college and provide you with training and networking opportunities to enable you to undertake your role and share best practice.
What does an Enterprise Adviser do?
Enterprise Advisers can offer a variety of activities to students, for example:
- Giving presentations to students about career experiences, and opportunities.
- Creating interactive workshops that motivate young people.
- Sharing experiences by inviting students to their workplace, and much more.
What are the benefits of volunteering as an Enterprise Adviser?
Enterprise Advisers can offer a variety of activities to students, for example:
- You will directly influence careers programme to prepare young people with the skills and knowledge for your future workforce.
- Sharing your experiences allows students to meet role models and broaden aspirations around future pathways, jobs and opportunities.
- Get resources and support from our team to bring your careers inspiring ideas to life.
- Join a network of like-minded, enthusiastic volunteers from different sectors and build external and internal relationships.

Sharing opportunities for young people and teachers to understand your industry
We can help you shape and publicise insight days and workplace visits for students and teachers to help them better understand the skills and attributes that your sector needs. Find out about some of the upcoming opportunities.

More ways to support young people
- Volunteer through ‘Give an Hour’ and support one-off careers events in schools. You will be notified of the events and can choose if you wish to get involved.
- Join more than 300 businesses UK wide who want to help improve the lives of young people by becoming a cornerstone employer.
- Provide quality work experience placements for students aged 16+ who are at risk of leaving their place of education without a future career goal through the Education Development Trust’s ‘Get Ahead Work Experience Programme‘, backed by Government and the Mayor of London.
